Can switching to a raw food diet help?
Statistics show that over 182,000 women in the United States will be given a diagnosis of breast cancer. Only twenty percent of these women have a genetic predisposition to breast cancer. The rest of the eighty percent are evidence that their cancer may be preventable with a healthy lifestyle and diet changes. The number of men with a diagnoses of breast cancer is on the rise as well, every year about one thousand five hundred men are told they have breast cancer.
The United States Academy of Sciences reports that there is a relationship between diet and cancer. Physicians recommended more fresh, raw fruits and vegetables. Vitamins A, C and E, which are abound in all fresh green leafy vegetables and fruit, have been shown to prevent cancer.
The National Academy of Sciences 1982 reported that diet and cancer were linked and they were the first to make this clear. The new Diet & Cancer Project report establishes without a doubt that diet plays an overwhelming role in fighting cancer.
· Healthy diet and exercise is one of the best ways to prevent cancer
· Recommended dietary choices in conjunction with not smoking has the potential to reduce cancer risk by up to seventy percent
· As many as 375,000 cases of cancer, at existing cancer rates, can be prevented each year in this country with healthy dietary choices
· Simple changes, such as eating five servings of fruits and vegetables each day, can reduce cancer rates more than twenty five percent
Though more fruits and vegetables has been recommended by many health agencies as one way to reduce the risk of developing cancer, many of the studies using fruits and vegetables don’t make a clear division between cooked and uncooked vegetables making it unclear if the raw fruits and vegetables are the greatest source of the elements that reduce risk for developing cancer. Studies show that heat destroys many of the ingredients in fruits and vegetables known to aid in cancer prevention. The elements needed to prevent cancer are destroyed or degraded by heat, so it is clear that raw fruits and vegetable are the best choices for cancer prevention.
