Cancer doesn’t have to be a death sentence

Cancer of any type is frightening. Not so many years ago when a person was given the diagnoses of cancer, there was little hope for treatments that really stopped the cancer in its tracks. That is not so today. The treatments and advances in medical procedures have come a long way. Cancer is no longer a death sentence to the thousands of people of who are diagnosed with cancer. Continued studies on the treatment, prevention and survival of cancer are imperative to conquering this disease.
Lung cancer is a devastating disease, but it is not always a death sentence. There are those who have reached Stage 3 and 4 and survive for one to three years. Some individuals have surgery in the earlier stages and were free of the cancer. Cancer, even lung cancer, if caught early is very treatable and survivable.
New technology has made a reliable means of detection when looking for cancer. The earlier a cancer can be found and treated, the better the survival rate is. Spiral CT scans, blood test and other tests have made early detection much more possible. As new technologies and new treatments are discovered, cancer is on the hit list and it will be a death sentence….to cancer. Stopping the formation or the growth of cancer is what the researchers are trying to discover. New treatments that arrest cancer and place the patient into remission as well as the treatments that cure cancer are found as the technology allows deeper studies to take place.
Many years ago cancer ravished our nation in areas that had coal mines, uranium deposits and as smoking rose to an all time high. Lung cancers that hit and spread rapidly usually killed individuals in a very short period of time. Modern medicine has made it possible to detect and treat cancer before there is no help. Cancer is no longer a death sentence when caught early. Be sure to have your yearly checkups and don’t let cancer go undetected.
Once cancer is detected, treatment needs to start right away. This cuts down on the damage that cancer can do and it also gives the patient an opportunity to become cancer free once again. Early detection is the key to beating cancer in all forms!
