Pancreatic Cancer Symptoms
Malignancy of the pancreas is known as Pancreatic Cancer. This particular type of cancer is often referred to as the "silent" cancer due to a lack of early onset symptoms. At times a tumor will develop that blocks a bile duct causing the skin and the whites of the eye to be jaundiced or to turn yellow. Urine is also darker due the collection of the bile pigment, bilirubin.
Cancer Symptoms Sometimes Do Not Appear
The patient may not experience recognizable symptoms in the early stages of pancreatic cancer. The vague aches and pains are brushed off as indigestion, maybe a bad food substance at a local restaurant or even a touch of the flu. The symptoms are pain in the abdomen and weight loss. The jaundice may or may not be present and the patient often experiences fatigue, weakness, chills, muscle spasms, and diarrhea. All of these symptoms are often attributed to a sever flu, but often not with cancer.
Pain and Discomfort
Pain and discomfort in the upper abdomen that may spread to the back is one of the first symptoms of pancreatic cancer. The pain may not always be present, but as the cancer grows, the pain most often becomes more constant and has a longer duration. Patients have found that this pain is often exasperated when they lie down or when they are eating a meal.
