What Is Essiac Tea?

Essiac tea is a natural, herbal tea that was named and developed by Rene Caisse, a nurse from Canada. While she is famous for naming the tea, the actual combination of roots and herbs that make up the tea seem to have come from the Ojibway Indians of Canada. Original Essiac tea is made from four specific herbs: bardock root, slippery elm inner bark, sheep sorrel, and Indian rhubarb root. All of these can be found in the land around Ontario, Canada.

Essiac tea has been used around the world to boost the body’s immune system and to detoxify the body. Many cancer patients use Essiac tea as a part of their treatment plan. It has been categorized as a Phase III cancer treatment and is considered a holistic treatment. This is because, instead of attacking symptoms or masking a more serious underlying issue, Essiac helps the body heal itself from the inside out, removing the root causes of health problems.

When a person drinks Essiac tea on a regular basis, they enable their body to fight off a host of viruses and harmful substances that would normally cause illness. For example, researchers have found that Essiac tea helps keep fatty deposits from growing on the arteries, kills digestive parasites, removes toxic substances from tissues and organs of the body, and increases the production of red blood cells, besides many other notable benefits.

While many different companies now market and sell Essiac tea with various claims about its health benefits, this tea has not been proven to cure any particular illnesses. Instead, it helps boost your immune system and thus serves as a type of preventative care. With a strong immune system, your body can fight off sickness and you can stay at optimal health.
