Kids helping kids defeat obesity
Statistics show that the US has an epidemic of childhood obesity cases and organizations across the nation have jumped into the circle to help fight this epidemic. Kids are reaching out to other kids to help in the fight against obesity. Healthy diet, exercise, and moral support is being given through clubs that emphasize fitness and healthy choices. Sports activities are being organized that accommodate the children that are obese and trying to lose weight with a better diet and exercise.
The rise in the last two decades in childhood obesity cases has been alarming. One out of every five children is overweight and two children out of seven are obese. That number has started to turn around with the help of communities and kids that are helping other kids fight the weight battle. Peer support is very important to children whose self-esteem is already damaged by their battle with weight and the cruel remarks that other kids can make. Clubs have formed of kids who are healthy because they have already lost weight and kids who need to lose weight. The club is a common meeting ground for the kids to help each other stay fit and trim or to encourage others to get fit and trim.
This is a win-win situation for the kids who have already lost weight and for the kids who need to lose weight. The kids who have already lost weight are encouraged to keep the weight off and the kids who need to lose weight are encouraged to be more active and make better diet choices. It is “the rage” to be able to lose weight and keep it off and to become fit and trim through diet and exercise, even in the world of our children.
Kids helping kids defeat obesity is the turning point for our youth and childhood obesity issues. It is very enlightening to both the children who have lost weight and the children who need to lose weight to see the world from both perspectives. The camaraderie helps to encourage the children to continue with healthy diet and exercise regiments that will keep their bodies healthy and strong. Hooray for the kids!
