Understanding The Different Forms Of Yoga

Yoga exercises have been used and taught for hundreds of years and have recently gained huge popularity around the world for their health benefits. All yoga styles are based around the same essential body postures and poses, but they have some specific differences that make them unique. 
 
Hatha is a term that is used in a general sense to describe many different types of physical yoga. This form of yoga is best for beginners since it is gentle and does not include fast-paced or intense postures.
 
Bikram Yoga, which is sometimes called Hot Yoga, was developed by Bikram Choudhury and is traditionally practiced in a room at temperatures of 95 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. This form of yoga includes 26 different poses, but not all of them are used in all classes.
 
Kundalini yoga focuses on the fusion of physical movement and breathing. It is based around the ideas of freeing energy from the body through breathing and explores the way that specific poses affect the release of energy.
 
Asthanga has been called Power Yoga because it is intense and physically demanding, using a flowing technique that encompasses many different poses. The word Asthanga means “eight limbs” in Sanskrit. 
 
Iyengar focuses on body alignment as taught by B.K.S. Iyengar. The yoga moves practiced in this form work to align the body so that you get the most physical benefits from a routine without becoming injured from extreme movements. Props like straps and yoga blankets are frequently used in Iyengar, and holding poses for extended periods of time is common.
 
Vinyasa is a form of yoga that uses some powerful moves to promote synchronization between breathing and movement. The Sun Salutation is frequently associated with Vinyasa, as most classes begin with several Sun Salutations and then move into stronger stretches.
